So apparently I am not suppose to write a detailed summary so here is a quick summary of what has happened in the book.
Once out of the caves Bilbo finds the dwarfs and they set off as quickly as they could so as not to get caught by the angry goblin. They find a nice place to camp when the evil wolves find them in their meeting place. Being allies to the goblins they trap them in trees and when the goblins show up they set the trees on fire. Luckily the great eagles come and save the company. After being fed the eagles drop them off and the find a person’s house that Gandalf had heard of. The man’s name is Beorn and he is a skin changer (he changes it a great black bear)...
After being fed and resupplied the party goes north for three days and then they have to go through Murkwood. This is where Gandalf leaves the picture and does some business southward.
Their way through is not challenged. Being very dark it is slow going. The first bad thing is while they are crossing a cursed river Bombur falls in and takes a nice nap and so they had to carry him. The second thing that happened was they try to get food from elves that thing that they are assaulting them. Thorin gets caught by the elves and the other dwarfs get caught by giant spiders that lived in the surrounding area. After Bilbo saves them, elves take the dwarfs but they miss Bilbo because he had his ring on.

All of these strange scenes make me really wonder what they will leave in or cut out when they make the movie.
ReplyDeleteI agree, even though it would be hard to leave any thing out due to the way J.R.R. Tolkein writes, and how each event triggers the next.
